Of the Big 4, KPMG is the one without a separately branded strategy arm. Deloitte has Monitor Deloitte, PwC has Strategy&, EY has EY-Parthenon. KPMG does strategy work within its wider advisory practice, but there isn't a Big 4 strategy brand to apply to.
What that means for you
- If you specifically want strategy consulting, KPMG is less of a direct route than the other three. Look at its deal advisory and strategy teams carefully, and apply to the others too.
- If you want technology, risk, operations or transformation consulting, KPMG is a big, serious option, and some students find it less crowded than Deloitte or PwC.
What the CV should show
- Evidence you work well in teams and with clients or customers.
- Interest in the area you're applying to, shown with something you did.
- One page, grades, numbers in the bullets. KPMG uses online tests too, so practise.
