How to get into PwC consulting

How to get into PwC's consulting practice as an undergraduate, how it differs from Strategy&, and what to put on your CV.

PwC has two quite different consulting routes, and the most important thing on this page is to know which one you're applying to:

  • Strategy&, PwC's strategy consulting business, formerly Booz & Company. Closer to MBB.
  • PwC Consulting, the wider practice: technology, operations, people, risk and transformation work for large organisations.

They recruit separately. If you want strategy, apply to Strategy&. If you want to work on making big changes happen inside organisations, PwC Consulting is the one.

What PwC Consulting looks for

  • Evidence you can work in big teams and with people very different from you. A part-time job dealing with customers counts. So does a volunteering role.
  • Interest in how organisations change: a technology rollout you saw, a restructure at a company you worked for, a society you reorganised.
  • Strong basics: grades, one page, numbers.

PwC also uses online tests early in its process. Practise them. Plenty of good CVs fall at that stage.

Questions
