Plural Strategy

Plural Strategy is a small London strategy consultancy. What we know about it and how undergraduates should approach small boutique firms.

Plural Strategy is a small strategy consultancy based in London. Public information about it is limited, so rather than guess, here's what to check and how I'd approach a firm this size.

How to apply to a boutique consultancy

Small strategy firms are some of the most overlooked options for students. They rarely advertise at careers fairs, so far fewer people apply, and you can get very real responsibility very early.

  1. Read their work. Small firms usually publish case studies or articles. Find one you have a real view on.
  2. Look at the people. Where did the partners train? Many boutiques are started by people from MBB or tier-2 firms, and that tells you how they'll interview you.
  3. Email them. A short message, a one-page CV, and a specific reason for choosing them. If there's no graduate scheme listed, this is how you find out whether there's a role.
  4. Prepare for case interviews anyway. Boutiques usually still case.

Questions

Does Plural Strategy hire graduates?

We don't know of a formal graduate scheme.

Are boutique consultancies worth applying to?

Yes. Less competition, real responsibility early, and the experience reads well when you apply to larger firms later.

I’ve had offers from Citi, Bank of America, BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, L.E.K. and OC&C. I’ve since scored and marked up more than 175 banking and consulting CVs by hand. The CV review on this site uses the same criteria.
