Industry-specific boutique banks

Boutique banks that only work in one industry. Which ones exist, who they suit, and what your CV needs to show.

Some banks only work in one industry. If you know exactly what you love, they can be a great place to start, because every deal is in your sector and your knowledge counts from day one.

The firms

Firm Industry
Leerink Partners Healthcare and life sciences
Ziegler Healthcare, senior living, education, non-profits
FT Partners Fintech
Allen & Co. Media and technology
Telsey Advisory Group Consumer and retail

Qatalyst Partners is also a single-industry firm (technology), but it's big enough to sit with the elite boutiques.

Who they suit

People with a real, specific interest, ideally backed by their degree or experience. A biology graduate at a healthcare bank, someone who's built fintech products at a fintech bank. That's the CV these firms read most carefully.

What the CV needs

  • Your sector knowledge, first. Don't bury the degree or the lab project. Lead with it.
  • Proof you understand the business side. A stock pitch, a view on a recent deal in the sector.
  • The usual banking basics: one page, a grade, numbers.

The CV review on this site uses the same criteria.
