How to get into EY-Parthenon

EY-Parthenon is EY's strategy and transactions consulting arm, strong in private equity due diligence. How undergraduates get in and what your CV needs.

EY-Parthenon is EY's strategy consulting business. It came from Parthenon, a Boston strategy firm EY bought in 2014. Like Strategy& and Monitor Deloitte, it's one of the Big 4 strategy arms, and it has a particularly strong name in transactions: commercial due diligence for private equity funds and companies buying other businesses.

Why the transactions side matters

A lot of EY-Parthenon's work in the UK is linked to deals. That makes it an unusual consulting firm in one way: a banking-style internship on your CV is genuinely relevant. If you've been applying to both banks and consultancies, EY-Parthenon is one of the places where both halves of your CV help.

What the CV should show

  • The usual consulting three: leadership, problem-solving, drive.
  • Commercial judgement. A society pitch, a stock pitch, any project where you had to decide whether a business was good or bad and why.
  • Speed with numbers. Due diligence runs on tight timelines.

Before: Researched market trends for the consulting society

After: Sized the UK pet insurance market for a society client project (£1.4bn), and showed that 60% of growth would come from older-pet policies

Interviews

Case interviews, often with a commercial or deal flavour. Practise market sizing and "should this investor buy this company?" cases.
