Guggenheim Securities is the investment banking business of Guggenheim Partners, a US financial firm better known for asset management. On the banking side it's grown into one of the elite boutiques in the US, with a strong M&A practice in sectors like healthcare, media and telecoms.
The important bit for UK readers
Guggenheim's investment bank is almost entirely American. Its analyst hiring is mainly in New York and other US cities. If you're studying in the UK, it's realistic only if you're eligible to work in the US and are applying to New York.
If you're at a US college, it's a strong boutique to target, and less talked about than Evercore or Centerview, which helps.
Getting a US boutique interview
- US banks recruit early. Summer analyst hiring for junior year often happens during sophomore year, sometimes more than a year in advance. Check timings well ahead.
- On a US resume, include your GPA out of 4.0 if it's strong (3.5 or above is the usual rule of thumb), and no photo or personal details.
- The rest is the same as any boutique: deal experience with sizes, technical interest, nothing generic.
